DIPLOMA

The Diploma in Theology (Dip.Theo) is a 3 year Programme, at level 6, which incorporates the academic, moral and spiritual formation of students. The primary objective of the Dip.Theo Programme is to provide the fundamental theological and ministerial foundations for its candidates to serve in the Ministry of the MCS. The candidates who successfully complete the Dip.Theo Programme are presented to the Conference of the Methodist Church in Samoa (MCS) at the annual Conference for appointment as Probationary Ministers.

The Programme utilises the diverse gifts and talents students bring with them into the College as a means
of incorporating the local and international backgrounds of each student into the College life.

The Dip.Theo is a stepping stone for potential candidates to undertake further academic studies. As part of a nesting Programme with the Bachelor of Divinity (BD) Programme, 120 credits accrued by candidates in the Diploma Programme may be counted towards the Bachelor Programme. At the conclusion of Dip 2 year, potential candidates are screened for the commencement of the BD Programmen in Dip 3. All candidates of the Dip.Theo must successfully complete a compulsory preparatory year (Foundational Pathway:
see โ€˜Admission to Programmeโ€™), which provides the basic
fundamentals of Theological Education essential for any student embarking in a Diploma in Theology. The preparatory year is an essential introduction to theological learning.
